Jaboticaba is also known as Brazilian Grapetree is native to Brazil, this interesting fruit tree bear fruit on trunks and branches, and this slow-growing tree will reach heights of between 10 and 45 feet. Jaboticaba is related to Java Plum and Guava, like guava, the thin outer bark of the tree flakes off leaving lighter coloured patches. The flowers emerge from the trunks and branches in small groups. Each flower has four hairy white petals and about 60 4-mm-long stamens. The dark purple, usually round, sometimes ellipsoid fruit occurs on short stalks, singularly or in clusters. The fruits range in diameter from 0.5 to 1.5 inches. I planted a few Jaboticaba trees on my farm at the sunny sport, jaboticaba requires medium to high sun exposure and grows best on deep, rich and well-drained soil. I really hope this amazing fruit tree will bear fruit in the next five or six years. Besides eating raw, it is a popular ingredient when making jams and jellies, desserts and even liquor.
