Pineapple is a tropical fruit that is quite resilient and can grow well on the ground or in a pot. This plant is very suitable for planting in the front or back yard. If you use the proper planting method, pineapples can bear fruit within 12 months, 9 months is the vegetation period, and the next 3 months are the flowering and fruiting period.

Three methods of pineapple cultivation are used in Sarawak, namely using pineapple crowns, suckers and tissue culture. I have used all three of these methods, and it was found that the planting method using pineapple crowns bears fruit in at least 15 to 24 months, and the tissue culture method bears fruit in 24 to 30 months. the cultivation method using a sucker is the fastest and will bear fruit within 12 to 15 months.

The data above is from my experience and the way I care for pineapple plants, it may be different for others.

In this article, I share how to grow pineapples in containers using the sucker method. Pineapple suckers can be obtained from the mother plant, when you harvest the pineapple fruit, do not "kill" the mother plant, the suckers will grow after a few weeks from the mother plant, it is prevalent for suckers to grow before pineapples are harvested

1. Prepare the plant medium according to the following ratio, cocoa peat: organic fertilizer (I use chicken manure): compost: garden soil,  1:2:2:3

2. Mix all the mediums and put them in a container, I use a 20-litre container, you can also use a flower pot.

3. Remove some of the bottom sucker leaves to expose the roots.

4. Plant in the container that has been prepared, water from the top of the sucker so that the water can flow through the gaps in the leaves directly into the roots.
